Mail Order Customers:

Our carrier DHL is operating near normally across the world. Allow an extra day for delivery (2 days for Australia, 6 days for New Zealand), just in case. However, regular international postal services can have additional delays, and are not recommended for anything required within 6 weeks.
  * For the UK only, Royal Mail are delivering the vast majority of orders on time according to our data, but is experiencing higher levels of staff absences, so there may some local delays.
  * We will be working normally and have a large warehouse full of parts that will help keep your car on the road. However, we are beginning to see supply delays from factory lockdowns around the world.
Workshop Customers:

Following government guidance, we are open as usual. Taking your vehicle to a garage for repairs is a permitted activity (safety) as long as you observe the social distancing rules. We have strict social distancing processes internally and disinfect daily (not least because we have staff in vulnerable groups). In the circumstances, we have had to close our waiting room. Our mechanics wear gloves at all times and we will disinfect your vehicle with our Zaflora sprays on handing back to you. We would respectfully ask you to show our staff the same courtesy. We also have full amount contactless payment systems.
  * MOTs due for renewal from 30th March to 31st July will be extended for six months. However, you are still legally obliged to keep your vehicle in a safe and roadworthy condition, so if you need to use your car in this period, it is still strongly recommended to get one done.

Alfa Romeo Brera Spider


The Alfa Romeo Brera Spider is too new for us to be aware of any specific faults, but our general buying advice page will help with any purchase, as will our Alfa Brera Spider Review page.

We will, however, be updating this page regularly as we get more Breras through the workshop.

The only specific issues we have come across so far are front tyre wear and water pumps seizing up on the diesel engine. The former can be alleviated with very careful adjustment of the suspension geometry and the latter by changing the cam belt and water pump every 60,000 miles, not the 90,000 that Alfa Romeo state in the service book.

We are now getting considerably more Brera spider's through our workshop and we are now starting to see a few more faults, they are still however one of the most reliable cars we have come across. We have now started to see some cars come in with a knock from an indeterminate position underneath the car and this we have traced to one or other front upper wishbone inner bush. We are also having occasional problems on the diesel's with lack of power caused by the valve in the inlet manifold jamming, but that's all folks

The Brera has a number of issues thet we see, these are however comparativly rare, the brera is still a very reliable car.

General Issues
Front upper wishbones can knock after around 80-100,000 miles this is a knock that you find it hard to trace as it seems to come from the centre of the car.

Rear lower hub bush wears out, and can cause tyre wear.

Brake disks wear out at around 80,000 miles and the brakes seem to squeak regularly.

The dash seems to get damaged quite easily if you have a large bunch of keys in the ignition and the door trim can gat hit by the seat belt and get damage.

The windows can get a mind of there own and need to be reset, wind the window down as far as it will go and hold the switch for 10 seconds and then wind it right up and hold it for 10 seconds and that cures that.

The tyres can wear exessively if the geometry is not set up correctly, this can also affect the way the car feels giving it a slightly un alfa like feel.

The steering rack and track rod ends can wear in high mileage cars.

The 2.2L and 3.2L petrol engine can suffer from stretchy timing chains.

The 2.4 Diesel engine has occasional problems with the intake manifold valves and the EGR Valve.
