Alfa Romeo Owner's Club
The Alfa Romeo Owners club (or AROC) is a club run almost entirely by volunteers whose main aim is to promote and enjoy the marque. All Alfa owners are very much individuals and have chosen the marque for very different reasons, whether it is for the looks, character, performance, handling or just to be a little different, and likewise they will also have their own reasons for joining the club.
It has many different sections, registers and meetings and what you put into the club is very much reflected in the enjoyment you will get from it. I have always found the club very welcoming and the volunteers put in many thousands of hours to make all the events a success. These organised events vary from track days to the National Rally, and are all very professionally run.
Since becoming a member (a while ago!) I have had the opportunity to have a go in racing cars, planes, international rallies and lots more; it is all there for you if you want to join in. Which ever Alfa Romeo you own, from the classic Bertone GTV to a 159, the club has things going on that will interest you. Try it and see.
AROC National Events 2011
Following a spectacular Alfa Romeo Centenary Year, the Club is now looking forward and is pleased to announce our two National Events for 2011.
Spring Alfa Day
Sunday 17th April – Imperial War Museum
Duxford, Cambridgeshire, CB22 4QR
Our ‘season opening’ event will be held at Europe's premier aviation museum. The venue also houses one of the finest collections of tanks, military vehicles and naval exhibits in the country.
National Alfa Day
Sunday 17th July - Basildon Park
Lower Basildon, Reading, Berkshire, RG8 9NR
The AROC will hold its annual national gathering at Basildon Park, which is owned by the National Trust and is a Grade I listed building. The impressive Georgian mansion, surrounded by glorious parkland, was built between 1776 and 1783 for Sir Francis Sykes and designed by John Carr in the Palladian style.
The event will feature our National Concours d’Elegance competition on the elegant lawn fronting the mansion, model register and Alfa Romeo main dealer displays, trade and private stands, offering all manner of Alfa-related automobilia, accessories, miniatures and literature.
The AROC will also be supporting Auto Italia magazine events:
Brooklands Italian Car Day – Saturday 30th April
Italian Car Concours at Stanford Hall – Sunday 5th June
